Bio
Jake Bristow is a charismatic and engaging singer and pianist who will be sure to make you laugh with his quick wit and move you with carefully selected repertoire. A very versatile performer, Jake performs in the Jazz, Pop/Rock, Covers, Piano Bar and Theatre scenes.
Starting out as a keen jazz musician, Jake gradated from the Jazz Music Institute in 2014 and has been a frequently gigging jazz musician since. He released his debut album ‘Perspective’ in April 2020, which is a predominantly solo jazz and pop album. He continues to present many of his own shows with his Jazz Band ‘The Jake Bristow Quartet’ at venues such as JMI Live, The Brisbane Jazz Club and Doo-bop Jazz Bar as well as sharing the band stand with many well renowned Jazz Musicians.
In the Pop/Rock and Covers scene, Jake is a principal keys player and vocalist for many corporate and wedding bands around Brisbane. Bands include: SaVvy Band, Bassline Studios Band, The Redtie Band, Mckenzie Band and The Baker Boys Band.
With a quick wit, cheeky smile and daring sense of adventure, Piano Bar gigs with Jake are quite the party! He performs on the Carnival Cruise Line, P&O and all around Brisbane.
Jake is frequently working in the theater and cabaret scene as a performer, accompanist and music director. He has worked on several national tours including The Tenor Tenors, as their pianist, and Lisa Hunt, as a singer and keyboardist in her band.
In the last few years Jake has been fortunate enough to see a-lot of regional QLD touring the following theatre shows: ‘Weathering Well’ ABC’s Jenny Woodward’s show and with Babushka Cabaret’s show ‘Bookclub’. It has been a thrill to see so much of the beautiful countryside!
As a music director, accompanist and arranger, Jake is has been involved in the creation of many different shows and looks forward to continuing this passionate work. Some shows include: A Very Naughty Christmas, Babushka’s Regifted and Sleep and The City.
Jake has a supportive and caring nature that paired with his high musical skills, is a sought after accompanist. He has accompanied many students in exams and artists on TV.
Tertiary Educational Achievements include a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Piano from the Jazz Music Institute (2012 - 2014) and a Graduate Certificate in Jazz Voice from the QLD Conservatorium (2016).
